Welcome to the Vancouver Homelearners Cooperative! We are a group of homelearning families from across Vancouver, BC, who meet on a regular basis to play and learn. We support each other and our children’s learning through a weekly gathering. We also plan field trips, play dates, and other activities together.
We come from different backgrounds and beliefs and meet on the common ground of homelearning. Many of us follow child-led or unschooling approaches to homelearning, but different styles are represented and all are welcomed. We are not a faith-based group.
If you would like to get involved with our group, or are new to homeschooling and would like to ask questions and meet some parents who have been homelearning for a while, we’d love to see you at our weekly gathering at Burrardview Park. Our group is run as a cooperative, and all families are expecting to contribute equally.
Our focus is games, LEGO and outside play. We don’t have specific weekly activities planned , unless someone is inspired to lead one.

Hi, It looks like you’re all having so much fun here. I would like to come check out your group with my 4.5 year old son. I run a home daycare, however, and often have up to four kids with me inc. my son, one 24 mos., another 2.5, and another 4.5 year old. Is it ok for me to bring them? How many of you also have other younger siblings who come? What is the average age range?
Thanks in advance, and hope to meet you all one day soon.
PS I’ve tried posting a comment hear before, and it seemed not to work, something to do with subscription that i didn’t understand well. So, trying again.

My son, Daniel and my home daycare kids and I have not had the chance to drop by recently. We wondering what you’re up to these days and if there are any special activities planned, and what the range of ages are of the children who are regularly attending these days.
Thanks,

Hi Melissa,
This is an amazing site by the way.
We need help in letting homeslearners know of a new children’s studio that we have just opened.
If you can spread the news to the homelearners across the lower mainland we would really appreciate that.
Here is our website:
http://www.latelierexploration.com
The website has all the details and we are planning to have an open house for homelearners but we would need to know who to speak to.
Thank you,
Karim.

Hi Melissa,
Great website – I really enjoyed reading about all your activities and resources.
I wanted to let your parents know about my learning studio for children who are struggling with reading, writing and spelling. Often the children we teach have a learning difference or learning disability which is sometimes why parents decide to homeschool. We teach children one-on-one or in very small groups using the Orton Gillingham approach. We are called Forty Four Sounds Orton Gillingham Learning Studio, because although there are only 26 letters there are 44 sounds in the English Language . . . . . http://www.44sounds.ca
Thank you,
Elspeth
